Forestry Mulching, Vegetation Management & Land Clearing

Please email us at info@nwforestry.com , or call 360.809.9035, if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Forestry mulching is a land clearing method that uses a single machine to cut, grind and clear vegetation including trees, brush, overgrown vegetation and stumps.

We offer a variety of land clearing services including:

  • Removal of trees, dense underbrush and overgrowth to prep your land for your dream home
  • Overgrown blackberry bush removal
  • Wildfire mitigation
  • Thinning of densely packed tree growth to promote overall tree health
  • Helping reclaim your property through the removal of overgrown vegetation and unwanted trees

  • One step process: forestry mulching combines cutting, grinding and clearing into a single step with one machine. This allows for more efficient land clearing, reducing the amount of equipment required as well as decreasing  time and labor.
  • Environmentally friendly. Unlike traditional land clearing, there is no burning or hauling away of debris therefore reducing carbon footprint. Mulching leaves behind organic mulch that decomposes naturally and helps protect wildlife habitats.
  • Controls erosion and improves soil health. Forestry mulching minimizes soil disturbance protecting tree roots & natural ecosystems. Mulching leaves behind a natural "blanket" that helps retain moisture.  Additionally,  the mulch slowly adds nutrients back into the soil as it breaks down aiding in new growth and helping to restore previously nutrient depleted trees.
  • Targeted vegetation removal allowing clearance of invasive species, underbrush and tree overgrowth while minimizing impact to remaining vegetation.
  • Is better for the land as traditional land clearing can lead to soil compaction, root damage, and increased runoff. Mulching leaves the topsoil mostly intact, helps the land recover faster, and reduces risk of longterm landscape damage.

  • Northwest Forestry is a locally owned and operated business.  We are a husband and wife team dedicated to serving our local and surrounding communities. We take an immense amount of pride in being a small, local owned business who puts safety and customer satisfaction above all else.  When woking with Northwest Forestry you'll always interact directly with the owners. From your free estimate, to the completion of the work, you will deal directly with the owners, and no one else.
  • At Northwest Forestry, forestry mulching, underbrush clearing, and stump removal is all we do, keeping our services our 100% focus.  We value making a positive environmental impact.
  • We do not nickel and dime our customers. We never charge setup, mobilization, change order, credit card, or any other nonsense fees. Additionally, we do not assess an additional charge based on the density of area being cleared.  Some of the fees we have heard of are unconscionable; we treat our customers the way we would like to be treated. Charges with us only include our hourly or daily rate, whichever is cheaper, and drive time beyond 40 miles roundtrip. Thats it! There will be zero surprises at the completion of work.
  • Equipment size matters. At Northwest Forestry, our primary machine is a low hour 2025 Takeuchi TL12 track loader, paired to a Fecon Bull Hog 74SS mulcher head. For forestry mulching horsepower and hydraulic flow is the name of the game. The TL12 boasts an 111 horsepower diesel engine pumping out an impressive 40.4 gallons per minute of hydraulic flow to the mulcher head. Few machines offer more horsepower or hydraulic flow. Cheaper machines may be appealing, but they do not offer the same performance as the TL12, resulting in additional time needed to complete the same amount of work.  Older machines may save money upfront, but as they further age, the horsepower and hydraulic flow decreases, causing them to be less effective, requiring additional time for job completion; as a result costing the customer more of their hard earned money. When getting quotes, its important to ensure you are comparing apples to apples.
  • At Northwest Forestry when we arrive to the job site, we are ready to immediately begin work. All of our equipment is prepared a day in advance, allowing us to focus on what you hired us for - reclaiming your property! We present to each job site with our equipment greased, fueled and appropriate teeth already mounted on the mulcher head. We pride ourselves on getting to work quickly, and staying until the job is completed.
  • We arrive to each job site with multiple attachments in case a property owner chooses to make adjustments in the plan. Arriving with our multiple attachments allows us to easily pivot, often times eliminating the need for a secondary trip. Our typical attachment pack out includes our TL12 track loader, Fecon mulcher head, 84" bucket, and our industrial root rake grapple. We find that as customers begin to see the transformation, they request completion of additional tasks. Arriving with multiple attachments make same day changes a breeze. We do not charge for change orders.

This can vary depending on tree species, but in general up to 10 inch diameter can be mulched with our equipment.

Yes, we offer free estimates! Often we can provide you with a generalized quote virtually. All areas to be cleared do require an in-person inspection prior to beginning work, during which a more concrete estimate will be provided.

At Northwest Forestry we never charge a set up or mobilization fee.

  • We offer discounts to active duty military and first responders.
  • Multi-day discounts available (days of work must be consecutive).

  • We cover the majority of Western Washington. Call or message us to verify if a specific property location is within our service area.
